Garda
The Bisesti Hotel is located in an enviable position a few steps from the historic center of the charming town of Garda and its splendid lakefront.
Garda is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Veronese coast of the lake, surrounded by the morainic hills to the south and the mountains to the north. In the past it was this locality that gave its name to the lake itself, formerly known as Benàco.
The toponym “Garda”, of Lombard origin (“warda” = guard, lookout) refers to the fortress that was built in the Middle Ages on the “Rocca di Garda”, the characteristic hill overlooking the town.
The history of Garda can still be seen today: just stroll through its streets, and raise your eyes admiring the splendid buildings, to perceive its timeless charm. Among the most beautiful buildings we remember Palazzo dei Capitani; Villa Canossa; Villa Albertini, where a six-hectare park is open to the public.
Starting from the hotel, you can walk to the local beach, or head towards the historic center of Garda and get lost in its historic and picturesque streets, full of ice cream parlors, bars, taverns and shops. Also for those who love shopping, the local market is held every Friday morning: many stalls of fruit, vegetables, local products, clothing, and much more.
With a short walk you can reach the Rocca of Garda from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view and where you can also visit the Hermitage of San Giorgio, still inhabited by the Camaldolese monks.
If you are looking for a postcard place, take a walk to Punta San Vigilio: a small peninsula that houses an ancient villa, a church and a picturesque marina, as well as the Baia delle Sirene natural park.
And at nightfall, what could be better than sipping an aperitif at sunset or having a romantic candlelit dinner in one of the many restaurants along the lakefront?
